Defining Background Colors or Background Graphics
You can define a background color or use a graphic as a background for various objects in LibreOffice Writer.
Applying a Background To Text Characters

Select the characters.

Choose \<emph\>Format - Character\</emph\>.

Click the \<emph\>Background\</emph\> tab, select the background color.
Applying a Background To a Paragraph

Place the cursor in the paragraph or select several paragraphs.

Choose \<emph\>Format - Paragraph\</emph\>.

On the \<emph\>Background\</emph\> tab page, select the background color or a background graphic.
To select an object in the background, hold down the CommandCtrl key and click the object. Alternatively, use the Navigator to select the object.
Applying a Background To All or Part of a Text Table

Place the cursor in the table in your text document.

Choose Table - Properties.

On the \<emph\>Background\</emph\> tab page, select the background color or a background graphic.

In the \<emph\>For\</emph\> box, choose whether the color or graphic should apply to the current cell, the current row or the whole table. If you select several cells or rows before opening the dialog, the change applies to the selection.
Applying a Background to Parts of a Text Table Using an Icon
To apply a background color to cells, select the cells and use the Table Cell Background Color button dropdown on the Table toolbar.
To apply a background color to a text paragraph within a cell, place the cursor into the text paragraph and then use the Background Color dropdown button on the Formatting toolbar.
